Charity Golf event raises $30,000 to assist local low-income, inner-city high school students

Summit-based non-profit, Student/Partner Alliance (S/PA), held it’s Tenth and largest ever golf event to raise money to support scholarships for Newark area low-income high school students. On June 17th, 125 golfers teed off at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth.

This year’s winners of the Scramble were: Shane Kelly, Kyle Kelly, Pat Dalrymple and Pat Doyle with an 8 under par score of 63. Chris Zingaro, Dave Biderman, Chris Mykietyn and Gil Gonzalez were the Pink Ball winners.

Ernst & Young, Dave and Cindy Hughes, Investors Bank, ICHS Trustees, Star Mountain Capital and WithumSmith & Brown were lead sponsors of the event. Additional sponsors included KPMG, Legacy Care Wealth, LLC, Liberal Finance Company, Metro Lube Pershing and Sobel & Co.

S/PA Trustee Bruce Reitz and his wife Susan started the golf event ten years ago to raise money to support scholarships for inner-city students through Student/
Partner Alliance.

Over the past ten years, proceeds have supported over 100 scholarships for low-income students wanting to attend inner-city college preparatory parochial high schools so that they would be able to access a strong academic education, graduate and subsequently go on to college.
